Sedation and
General Anaesthesia
Supporting calm, comfortable dental care
Sedation
Process
We understand that visiting the dentist can make some people feel nervous — especially when facing longer or more complex treatments. That’s why we offer both oral sedation and general anaesthesia, to help make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Our Sedation and Anaesthesia options include:
Oral Sedation (Medication)
Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed medication before your appointment to help you feel calm and relaxed. You’ll remain awake and able to respond, but most patients describe feeling drowsy and less aware of what’s happening during treatment.
This option is ideal for patients who:
- Feel anxious about dental treatment
- Need longer or more detailed procedures
- Want extra support to stay relaxed in the chair
You’ll need someone to drive you home afterwards, as the effects of the medication can last for several hours.
General Anaesthesia
For patients who prefer to be completely asleep during treatment, general anaesthesia may be recommended. This is performed by a qualified specialist anaesthetist ensuring your safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
General anaesthesia is often used for:
- Complex or lengthy dental procedures
- Patients with significant dental anxiety
- Situations where multiple treatments are completed at once
After your procedure, you’ll rest in recovery until you’re fully awake and ready to go home.
