Gentle care for growing smiles
We believe that positive dental experiences early in life help set the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. Our team takes a gentle, caring approach to children’s dentistry — helping kids feel safe, comfortable, and even excited to visit the dentist.
From your child’s first tooth through to their teenage years, we focus on prevention, education, and confidence. Regular check-ups allow us to monitor growth, guide healthy habits, and address any concerns before they become bigger problems.
We take time to explain each step in a calm, positive way — turning appointments into a learning experience rather than something to worry about. Our care for kids includes:
- Routine check-ups and professional cleans

Children’s & Family Dentistry FAQs
When should my child’s first dental check-up be?
We recommend bringing your child in for their first dental visit by 12 months old, or when their first tooth appears (whichever happens first).
How often should my child visit the dentist?
Just like adults, it is recommended children see their dentist every six months for a routine check-up.
In these regular check-ups, our Townsville kid’s dentists will examine their teeth to make sure they’re being well-cleaned and to prevent or detect any dental issues early.
What if my child is scared of the dentist?
It’s very common for kids to be afraid of the dentist. If your child is anxious, we recommend visiting us every three months, rather than every six months (until they overcome their fear).
We understand that if your child is scared, the last thing they’d want to do is visit us more often. However, the purpose of these quick, more regular check-ups will be to build comfort, confidence, and familiarity for your child with our team and in a dental environment.
You can trust that our dentists will strive to make each child dental experience as positive and stress-free as possible. Many of our team members are parents themselves and are very skilled at providing gentle care, engaging, and calming down our younger patients.
If my child gets a toothache, what should I do?
Book a same-day appointment for children’s dentistry in Townsville. Ensure they’re not eating hard and sugary foods during the toothache as it may lead to further problems. Use a softer toothbrush for the time being until their pain goes away.
What foods can my children eat after a tooth extraction?
Go towards soft foods like porridge or mash potato. Blended smoothies can be a great option to gain proper nutrition. Avoid hard foods such as nuts, steak, and popcorn for the first couple of days or until they are pain-free.
If my child gets a cavity in a baby tooth, should it be filled?
That will vary from child to child. The formation of a child’s teeth is important, so each treatment has to be thoroughly examined and approved. Your paediatric dentist will advise what the best course of action will be.
